Congratulations to the 2013 HFES-STTG Best Student Paper Award Winner - Mahtab Ghazizadeh

STTG member Mahtab Ghazizadeh won the 2013 Best Student Paper Award with the paper titled "Text Readability and Drivers' Reading Time: Insights from the Visual Occlusion Method." She won this award from 5 top student papers. This paper is co-authored by Vindhya Venkatraman, Miralis Torres, Madeleine C. Gibson, John D. Lee, and Linda Ng Boyle. STTG Election

It’s STTG election time! Since we are halfway through our two year term for the TG Chair (Greg Fitch) and Newsletter Editor (Nick Gkikas), we are looking for one or more nominees for each of the following positions: ·          Program Chair Elect (1 year as Elect + 1 year as Program Chair) ·          Webmaster (1 year term) Positions become effective at the close of the 2013 TG business meeting. You may nominate yourself or a colleague. If you nominate someone else, please check to be sure that the person is willing to run. Following HFES rules, nominees for the Program Chair Elect position must be Full Members of HFES and members of the TG. Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Driving Safety Research at the University of Massachusetts Amherst

The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass) seeks a post-doctoral research associate in driving safety research. This is a full-time, benefited position with funding for an initial period of one year. Pending satisfactory performance, the position is typically extended to two years. The primary goal of the program is to develop the research careers of recent doctoral graduates with a focus on driving safety research, through a program that encourages creativity and independent discovery in collaboration between two research institutions with extensive records of accomplishment in these fields. The post-doctoral research associate will conduct driving safety research in close collaboration with research scientists at the Liberty Mutual Research Institute for Safety (LMRIS) in Hopkinton, MA as well as with faculty in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass).
